First Aid & Safety American Red Cross This book is a great resource for parents and includes information on dealing with burns, scrapes, broken bones, and many other injuries. Child and infant CPR are reviewed, as well as what to do if an infant or child is choking. Parents may want to check this book out and perform the home safety check that is included. This helps families review safety in all parts of the house. This can help parents prevent their children from encountering dangerous situations. |

This is one of the best resources for new and important information relating to the development young children and their families. Articles are written by leading professionals from a variety of fields including doctors, mental health professionals, and parent educators. The articles in each issue deal with a single topic such as birth, fathering, parent-child relationships, child welfare, or home visiting. |

The Well Baby Book Mike Samuels, M.D. and Nancy Samuels The Well Baby Book covers child development from birth through 4 years. Besides having a lot of information standard to this kind of book (childhood diseases, developmental milestones, etc.), this book covers many topics sometimes neglected by others. Important topics include ways to sooth a crying baby, sleep patterns and how to encourage a baby to sleep through the night, attachment and separation, and a nice range of gentle exercises and activities to stimulate your baby’s physical and social development. The authors also include visualization and relaxation techniques for Mom and Dad to use during every stage of the baby’s development. This book contains a wealth of information and has a very nice feeling to it. |
